Our people

Our employees are the heart of our company. We are very much aware of that fact at Van Gog Kwekerijen. There is no nursery without employees, it is that simple. Being a good employer is then also one of our top priorities. We offer a fair remuneration and salary system and good fringe benefits. We provide coaching and guidance on the work floor. We are generous with a compliment and a pat on the back, but also let people know where they can improve. We encourage employees to develop themselves further with focused training courses. We treat each other with respect and are always ready to help each other. That is how we work together in a nice, relaxed work environment.

Being a good employer is not an empty slogan for us, but is prompted by our steadfast conviction: when you are good to your people, then the people are also good to you.

Our teams
We work with a permanent team of some 50 employees at Van Gog Kwekerijen. Competent, driven people with a big heart for growing and for the company. Always looking for innovative ways to further optimise the cultivation process. With a sense of their own responsibility and freedom to develop initiatives. They are supported by professional colleagues in the back office in Deurne. These professionals make sure that, in addition to the cultivation, all of the other business matters run smoothly.

Our permanent team is surrounded by a large group of temporary workers[DH1] , of whom the majority have been working already for years at Van Gog Kwekerijen. These mainly Polish [DH2] colleagues work some 8 to 12 weeks in our greenhouses and then have a break of 3 to 6 weeks. Based on an annual schedule, we carefully plan all of these weeks of work and holidays in advance. That way it is clear for everyone and provides assurance to our employees regarding job retention.

Proper facilities
Van Gog Kwekerijen works already for years with a fixed temporary employment agency, with whom we have built a solid relationship. We attach great value to proper facilities for our employees. We always ensure that the following matters are properly arranged: housing, transportation, medical help, company clothing, Dutch language lessons and day-to-day support. 

Own housing
We think it is important that our employees have a nice place to stay when they are working in the Netherlands at our nursery. That is why Van Gog Kwekerijen has its own housing with proper facilities at each location.

Van Gog Kwekerijen constructed beautiful, new housing in Horst in 2019, right next to the greenhouses. With 2-person rooms, equipped with their own bathroom. And shared kitchens and areas for relaxing.

Our colleagues in Helmond stay in the city centre, where a former office complex was converted into rooms for 2, 3 and 4 persons. With shared bathrooms on each floor and shared equipted kitchen.

In Asten we use former hotel-restaurant De Peelsprong to accommodate our colleagues. The building has 2-3 person rooms and shared facilities. Next to the greenhouses, we have build a new accommodation in 2022. With 2-person rooms, shared facilities and areas for relaxation, this is also a beautiful accommodation

Transportation
Van Gog company vans are available for transportation to and from the workplace, but can also be used to get groceries or to bring colleagues to and from the airport. Bicycles can also be borrowed free of charge at all locations.

Company clothing
All of our employees wear company clothing in and around the greenhouses. This clothing is laundered at the company itself in order to ensure food safety and hygiene. A clean set of clothing for each person is ready each morning.
